It is also a fairly destructive passion and very hard to share with family life.
I know that my son keeps me to give myself in at 300%.

I do spend 70 % of my time at the yard. People think I am mad, because I would take a book a go read in my mare's stall.
I hope that I would end my days in their compagny.Murielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05491691754938320621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-78188748937183349702010-02-24T23:35:29.488-05:002010-02-24T23:35:29.488-05:00There is something compelling about powerful four ...There is something compelling about powerful four footed giants who accept our companionship with such grace.English Riderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01712384532126551307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-41815318157052948682010-02-24T17:27:31.351-05:002010-02-24T17:27:31.351-05:00As soon as you started talking about thunder I sta...As soon as you started talking about thunder I started looking out the windows wondering what on earth was going on! With the weird weather we've been having, thunder wouldn't surprise me at all!

Your post was excellent, it made me tear up (I blame pregnancy hormones!). I've lived with horses my entire life, I think sometimes I take them for granted. They've just always been there. But when they aren't there or I can't be with them, there is certainly a hole in my heart.A Work In Progresshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14076863943914879567noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-32303295352118678892010-02-24T17:04:43.036-05:002010-02-24T17:04:43.036-05:00glad you found a reason for the thunder... was hal...glad you found a reason for the thunder... was half expecting to find you developing tinnitus of no known cause, which would have been NOT good...Clairehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02888698683201580237noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-32241184400266920882010-02-24T14:06:07.905-05:002010-02-24T14:06:07.905-05:00Well said.Well said.SprinklerBandithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11381922004203479379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-78362905636444859162010-02-24T11:57:22.818-05:002010-02-24T11:57:22.818-05:00I think this is my favorite post you've done s...I think this is my favorite post you've done so far, because it so echoes my own experience. My first memory of a horse was a ride on a black shetland pony at the circus when I was 4 years old. I remember cutting open my knee on the way to the pony ride but insisting that I HAD to ride a pony (despite never even seeing one in real life before). It took many years after that before I was able to spend any amount of time with horses, but I read books and collected models in the meantime. There's nothing like listening to my horse crunch on a juicy piece of apple and I love the wrinkles over his eyes, his long ears.....Jenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12314973421591276840noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-39850239779990965122010-02-24T11:38:16.465-05:002010-02-24T11:38:16.465-05:00I've been riding since I could hardly walk, an...I've been riding since I could hardly walk, and have always loved horses. I know what you mean about being with them - that is my chief satisfaction - and knowing how to move around them does become automatic. You have lovely memories!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29272013.post-46301483301855500082010-02-24T11:23:40.266-05:002010-02-24T11:23:40.266-05:00I've been obsessed with horses since I was ver...I've been obsessed with horses since I was very young. Got it from nobody in my family that I know of. Got my first (and only) horse when I was 36. I wish he wasn't lame most of the time and I wish he was more fun to ride... but I love him and wouldn't trade him for a million dollars.
Through the years there have been horses I haven't liked at all... but I still love them because they're horses...
Just watching the horses here out the window makes me smile : )
- The Equestrian VagabondThe Equestrian Vagabondhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15600011873327347121noreply@blogger.com
